Story Time Policy
Publisher (Data Controller): Laor tech Contact for privacy questions and deletion requests: lirazhad@gmail.com Effective date: 2026 Overview Story Time is a children’s reading app that helps young readers practice reading aloud. We believe children’s privacy matters, so Story Time is designed to collect as little data as possible. Everything you and your child create, read, and track is stored only on your device unless you make an in-app purchase. Data We Do Not Collect Story Time does not collect or store any of the following:
- Accounts, registration, email addresses, or passwords
- Precise location data
- Advertising identifiers, behavioral data, or any cross-app tracking
- Analytics, usage-tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs (we do not use Firebase, Sentry, Amplitude, or similar services) We do not sell any personal information. Data Stored On Your Device The following information is stored locally on your device using your device’s app storage and is never sent to us or any server:
- Your child’s profile display name and selected icon
- Reading preferences (assistance settings, help timing, confidence threshold, strict matching, reduced motion, celebration sounds)
- Reading progress: completed stories and pages, last page read, time spent reading, words read correctly/retried/assisted, a list of “tricky words,” and reading streaks
- Story text and photos you add when creating a custom story
- Theme preference and onboarding-complete flag Because this data lives only on your device, we cannot access it, and we have no servers storing it. If you uninstall the app, this data is removed. Speech Recognition & Microphone To validate that your child is reading aloud, Story Time asks for microphone and speech-recognition permission. Audio is processed by your device’s built-in speech recognizer (iOS SFSpeechRecognizer or Android SpeechRecognizer) on your device for the sole purpose of recognizing the words your child reads. We do not store recordings, transcripts are used only to advance reading progress within the app, and nothing is uploaded to us. Photos Story Time accesses your photo library only when you add a picture to a custom story. Photos you add are stored on your device as part of the story. We never receive, store, or share your photos. Purchases & Third-Party Services In-app purchases and the “Pro” unlock are processed by third parties:
- RevenueCat — handles subscriptions, entitlements, and purchase restore. RevenueCat processes purchase and customer identifiers to verify entitlements. Their privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — process payment and billing. Apple and Google’s privacy policies apply to payment transactions. When an in-app purchase is made, Apple or Google (and RevenueCat) receive the information necessary to process that purchase. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Children’s Privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K) Story Time is designed for children learning to read, typically with a parent or guardian. Consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU’s GDPR-K rules, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only “identifying” piece of data we handle is an optional, local display name chosen on the device, and it never leaves the device. No children’s personal information is sold, and no personal information is shared with third parties except the payment/entitlement processor described above. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at lirazhad@gmail.com and we will help remove it. Your Choices & Deletion
- Delete a custom story — deleting a story in the app removes its text and its photos from your device.
- Clear all app data — deleting or uninstalling the app removes all locally stored profiles, progress, and stories from your device.
- Deletion requests — if you need help understanding or removing any data, contact us at lirazhad@gmail.com. Security & Retention Because your data remains on your device, there is nothing stored on our servers to secure or retain. Where third parties (RevenueCat, Apple, Google) process purchase data, they apply their own security and retention practices, which are described in their privacy policies. Your Rights Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU/UK under GDPR or in California under CCPA/CPRA), you or your child’s parent/guardian may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we do not collect personal data beyond the on-device purchase/entitlement processing described above, exercising these rights is generally a matter of managing your device’s app data or contacting Apple/Google for purchase records. For any questions, email lirazhad@gmail.com. Contact If you have any questions about this policy or Story Time’s privacy practices, please contact: Laor tech lirazhad@gmail.com This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by the “Effective date” shown above.
